ServerTiling (ServerTiling-V2.exe)

This program should be used by people with some IT experience.

ServerTiling is a command line program. It can be run from the Windows™ command line or included in another program (or batch file) and run from it. ServerTiling arguments are:

-h        this help

-f         ndpi file name with pathway. For example: C:\thisway\file.ndpi

-n        name to be given to the deep focus image. For example: PAP or MGG etc.

-s         size in pixels of the tile side. 512 or 256. No other values accepted.

-x        0=sequential tiling. Slow, but suitable for servers with RAM <=8 GB.

1=asynchronous tiling. Faster. Needs a lot of RAM >= 16 GB.

-z         pathway to the command line Zoomify Converter™ (If present on the server. Not compulsory)

-d        control delay on asynchronous activities: 1000= 1 second; 2000=two seconds etc. (Not compulsory)

It is compulsory to provide all the arguments (-h -z and -d excluded).

If an argument is missing an error message is generated in the Log file and the execution terminated

The arguments –h –f  -n and –z do not need any explanation. The enlargement is automatically set to the highest possible (i.e. the highest found in the ndpi file).

-s         you are strongly suggested to use always 512 unless you have a powerful computer with 32GB RAM.

-x        selecting “0” ServerTiling will execute all the steps of the process sequentially (i.e. one after

the other one). Selecting “1” the program tries to perform more than an operation at the

same time. It is a little faster only if your computer has at least 16GB RAM.

-d        Relevant only if you have chosen –x1. This argument generates a short delay between the

processing of each z-stack level. The default value 1000 is normally appropriate.

Command line example:

C:\path\to\application\ServerTiling-V2.exe –fC:\way\to\file.ndpi –nPAP –s512 –x0

C:\path\to\application\ServerTiling-V2.exe –h

Will display the help

Remember: the ndpi file must be the only file present in the folder.

To visualise the deep focus image obtained, see the final paragraph in MicroTiling manual section.
